Baja California Wind Projects. Baja California, Mexico.

Cannon Power Group has tapped the enormous potential of the Baja California Renewable Energy Corridor and understands the promising market and issues associated with cross-border renewable energy development. As a large-scale, world-class wind and solar resource located close to major U.S. population centers on the northern side of the California-Mexico border, this Corridor can make a major contribution to California’s clean power needs.
Cannon’s team of knowledgeable development, construction, technical and engineering professionals have many years experience in Baja’s electricity and related sectors.
In 2004, Cannon developed the Rumorosa area for a wind project, its first in Mexico. Cannon now plans to develop a series of utility-scale wind and solar projects located in the heart of the Corridor, with potential for generating a strong source of clean power to export cross-border into the California (U.S.) market.

Project Location

  • Baja California, Mexico near the town of La Rumorosa- approximately 60 miles east of San Diego and 15 miles south of the U.S.-Mexico border.
  • Project site is located on a 140 square-mile site leased from the Ejido Aubanel Vallejo – a region widely known as one of the best wind resource areas in North America.
  • Unlike most other wind sites, the wind peaks at this location are from mid-afternoon to early evening – when demand for electricity is most high.

Generation

  • The utility-scale wind and solar project in Baja California is expected to provide a cost-efficient and reliable source of clean renewable power.
  • Cannon expects to develop 300-500 MW of clean renewable power at the site.
  • Power is expected to be sold cross-border to California/United States customers.

Regional Impacts

  • The project has potential to provide clean power to many California/United States households and help improve overall air quality in the region.
  • The project will be designed and built to the same standards as a U.S.-based wind project.
